With winter coming, are you prepared?
When thinking of your home, here is a list of things to consider to winterize your home.
- Make sure that all of your heating vents are clean and uncovered.
- Cover swamp coolers and air conditioners.
- Make sure that your exposed water pipes are covered. Also make sure that your sprinkler system has be winterized so that none of those pipes break when the ground starts to freeze.
- Make sure that you have cleaned up your chimney before lighting your first fire.
- If you haven’t done so already, and if you live in a really cold area that gets snow, wrap your hot water heater with an insulating blanket. They sell these at Lowes.
- Check all of your weather stripping on your doors and windows.
- Check your roof for missing or damaged shingles, and have them replaced immediately.
- Cover your patio furniture, and any equipment that is normally outdoors.
- If you have a wood stove, make sure that you have plenty of firewood.
- Check all of your pilot lights.
